Top Sports Man Of The Year

The year 2020 did not go well as we all expected at the end of the year 2019, mainly because of the COVID-19 pandemic’s fallouts. However, with the closure of some sports events, several players managed to perform eminently well with maintaining discipline in the sport.

These are some professional and well-deserved sportsmen who impacted sports with their outstanding performance in 2020.

  • Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton, 35 years old British racer, won Sportsman of the Year in 2020. He gives stiff competition to the most loved third place racing driver Hollie Doyle and after passing F1 runner-up 91 Grand Prix winner Michael Schumacher for most wins. He is an incredible racing driver, musician, fashion designer, and activist.

This year Lewis fearlessly promoted racial equality and represented his country with his best efforts. After winning, he personally congratulates all the nominees, especially new nominees.

  • Lionel Messi

The Barcelona superstar/caption Lionel Messi won the Laureus best Sportsman of the Year award 2020. 32-years-old Lionel Messi is the footballer who becomes the first-ever that wins this award in football history. It is one of the shocking news because this category witnesses a tie between Lewis Hamilton and Lionel Messi with the same amount of votes.

He defeated other excellent nominees for sportsmen of the year, like tennis player Rafael Nadal, Golfer Tiger Woods, motorcycle racer Marc Marquez and long-distance runner  Eliud Kipchoge.

  • Laurent Duvernay-Tardif

A Canadian NFL Montreal-raised player and doctor Laurent Duvernay-Tardif won the prestigious honored titles of Sportspersons of the Year from the world’s largest sports publication, Sports Illustrated‘s 2020. This title was shared with tennis icon Naomi Osaka, NBA star LeBron James, basketball player Breanna Stewart and Tardif’s Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes.

He also won the title of Super Bowl LIV in 2020 with the Chiefs from Kansas City.

  • Lebron James

LeBron James, the NBA player, won the title of the ‘activist athlete' Sportsperson of the year 2020 by Sports Illustrated. There is no doubt that he is one of the most active players, and he showed his efforts in the ex session by winning the NBA championship the fourth time.

He was also a member of the Black Lives Matter Movement, and he proved to the world how the lives of black people matter.

  • Patrick Mahomes II

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Whitehouse native Patrick Mahomes II won one of five athletes as ‘’The Activist Athlete’’ Sportsman of the Year 2020 by Sports Illustrated. He surprised everyone as two members of the Kansas City won the same title among five extremely talented athletes. He also won BEN Awards 2020 as a sportsman of the year.

Mahomes was also a member of the black live movement, making three members of the titles somewhere connected to each other.

Fans are really happy to see the deserving player winning the titles. This list doesn’t end here; many extremely talented athletes also won the sportsmen of the year, and those are NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, Basketball player Kawhi Leonard, Footballer Odell Beckham Jr., Basketball player Stephen Curry, and World Sportswoman of the Year Artistic Gymnast Simone Biles.
